A minimally invasive treatment to correct gum recession

No scalpels, no sutures, and no palatal grafting

Small Pinholes are made and special instruments are used to gently loosen and guide the receded gums to cover the recession

Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation® is performed by making small holes with a needle in the gum tissue.
Using specially designed instruments, the gum tissue is loosened and guided over the receded part of the tooth.

Since there is no cutting or stitching, patients can expect minimal post-operative symptoms (pain, swelling and bleeding).
Patients experience instant cosmetic results and are typically back to normal activities in 24 to 48 hours after the procedure.

Meet the inventor
John C. Chao, D.D.S

Dr. Chao pioneered the Pinhole® Surgical Technique in 2000 because it occurred to him that there must be a better way to correct gum recession in a way that is minimally invasive, easier on the patient and does not require cutting the tissue as with gum grafting. He developed special instruments for this procedure and figured out that he could access the tissue though small Pinholes to loosen the tissue and move it back into proper position to cover the recession.
The Pinhole® Technique and the special instruments are patented.
